Queen Demos Of Released Tracks (M-Z)

This page includes full details of all Queen demos of tracks that have subsequently been released on Queen or Solo projects. It includes both genuine demos (as far as can be determined), and other tracks which are often claimed to be demos, such as tracks recorded during BBC Sessions, and also a guide to 'faked demos' which are known to exist. Details of Queen demos for tracks A-L can be found here, whilst Solo demos can be found here.

The links at the top of this page are grouped according to the type of recording, whilst the actual details are listed alphabetically. A brief guide to the various types of recording is given below.

These pages were generated by collating a number of other sources, and from my own collection of recordings. Not much information is known about many of the tracks, so if you can provide further information or believe there to be any errors or omissions, please email me.

Genuine Demos
These are tracks which, as far as can be determined, are genuine demos, which were later developed for Queen or Solo projects. Many of the earlier demos are only rumoured to exist, but fortunately many of the later demos (from 'Hot Space' onwards) are fairly widely available in generally very good sound quality. Full details and lyrics are given (where known) but due to quality issues or ad-libbing, some lyrics are unknown or inaccurate.
BBC Sessions
Between 1973 and 1977, Queen recorded a total of 25 tracks for the BBC, spread over six different sessions, and to date, only 9 of these tracks have been given an official release. All 25 tracks were at one point due to be released as a double-album but this was ultimately abandoned, however they will eventually be released in the 'Anthologies' boxed set(s). BBC Sessions are often labelled as 'alternate takes' or 'demos' on bootlegs, hence their inclusion here. A brief guide to the six BBC sessions can be found in the Concertography.
'KEWB' Radio Tracks
KEWB is a radio station in the USA, which Brian visited as part of a promotional tour of radio stations in 1991 to promote "Innuendo". These six tracks feature Brian 'playing along to' a number of Queen tracks and as result they sound very different to the original tracks, and are often claimed to be demos. The give-away is that in most cases dialogue from Brian or the DJ can be heard. However, all of the tracks run slightly too fast, but the dialogue sounds normal, so they were clearly played too fast at the radio station (and not subsequently copied at the wrong speed).

Brian is known to have visited the following cities: (at all shows he did general guitar solos, of varying lengths)

25 March 1991 - New York : Guitar Solo, The Invisible Man, Ogre Battle
17 April 1991 - Los Angeles : Guitar Solo (with parts of Last Horizon)

29 May 1991 - Philadelphia : I Can't Live With You, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You, Tie Your Mother Down, Somebody To Love

31 May 1991 - Dallas : Brighton Rock / Stone Cold Crazy
4 June 1991 - San Jose : I Can't Live With You / Tie Your Mother Down / Killer Queen / Headlong / Under Pressure
10 June 1991 - Toronto : Tie Your Mother Down / Crazy Little Thing Called Love / Stone Cold Crazy

The most commonly available tracks all seem to originate from the San Jose show.

Faked Demos
Many bootlegs feature tracks which are claimed to be demos, but many of these are simply the album version with slight tinkering, most often changing the speed and applying stereo effects. Whilst a few of these are quite interesting in their own right, the majority are completely unconvincing, but all known fakes are mentioned here. Some bootlegs also feature excerpts from live performances or remixes, and these are also included. 'Faked Demos' is hence a broad term for anything which is claimed to be something that it isn't. As such this will never be a complete list, but will hopefully be as thorough as is possible, and provide a guide as to what is available (or what to avoid).

Machines
Click here for details of the version which was later released on 'The Works'
Intro Demo
This 'demo' is more like an alternative instrumental intro, and contains various elements which were later present in the song, but it is quite hard to describe. The track cuts off abruptly at the end, just as it sounds like it would get more interesting, so it possibly an excerpt of a full length demo. Length 1:23.

Man Made Paradise
Click here for details of the version which was later released on Freddie's 'Mr Bad Guy'; click here for details of the possible Freddie demo.
Queen Demo
This solo track from Freddie was originally recorded by Queen, and presumably intended for 'The Works'. Very little is known about the Queen version; a demo or early version of the track appears on the 'Freddie Mercury - The Untold Story' documentary, but this is probably a Freddie demo, rather than a Queen one.

Misfire
Click here for details of the version on 'Sheer Heart Attack'
Faked "Instrumental Demo"
Running slightly slower than normal, this version uses loses the right stereo channel to make some of Freddie's vocals very faint. However, it does retain all the choruses, but with a bit more trickery they could have made a nearly completely instrumental version, as the verse vocals come through the left channel and the chorus vocals come through the right. Length 1:54.
Lyrics:
Don't you misfire
Fill me up
With the desire
To carry on

Ooh, don't you misfire
Fill me up
With the desire
To carry on

Don't you misfire
Fill me up
With the desire
To carry on

Come on take a shot
Fire me higher
Don't you miss this time
Please don't misfire

Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen'
BBC Session 3, 1973
This version is very similar to the album version, but is slightly longer and has a new instrumental ending. It is officially available on the 'Queen At The Beeb' album. Length 1:59.
BBC Session 4, 1974
This version is noticeably slower, and as a result there is extra guitar in places. After the track normally ends, there is a new outro section with vocals from both Roger and Freddie. Length 2:41.

The three versions can also be identified by a single lyric change; instead of Roger's lyrics of 'yeah, listen little baby let me tell you what it's all about' at about 0:50 on the album version, on BBC Session 3, this is replaced by 'it's not that I'm bright, just happy go lucky', and on BBC Session 4 there is simply a whistle sound.

BBC Session 4 Lyrics:

Had to make do with a worn out rock and roll scene
The old bop is getting tired, need a rest, well you know what I mean
Fifty-eight that was great but it's over now and that's all
Something harder's coming up, gonna really knock a hole in the wall
Gonna hit you grab you hard, make you feel ten feet tall
Ooh

Well I hope that a big new baby's gonna come along soon
You don't know it could happen, any old rainy afternoon
With the temperature down and the juke box blowing no fuse
And the musical life's feeling like a long Sunday school cruise
And you know that there's one thing every single body could use

Modern times - rock 'n' roll
Modern times - rock 'n' roll

Get your high heeled guitar styled boots and some groovy clothes
Hair piece on your chest and a ring through your nose
Find a nice little man who says he's gonna make you a big, big star
Stars in your eyes, ants in your pants, think you should go far
Everybody in this bum sucking world is gonna know who you are

Mother Love
Click here for details of the version on 'Made In Heaven'
Demo Version
This track was originally recorded in 1991, before being released on 'Made In Heaven'. It is unlikely to have Freddie on all the vocals (otherwise they are likely to have been used on 'Made In Heaven'), and sources suggest that Brian and even Roger sing on this demo.
Faked Demo
This is a bizarre track, obviously derived from the album version. It has been edited to produce a short instrumental version, and then adds additional vocals from Freddie, from a number of different sources, and is probably the worst faked demo I've heard (Brian or Roger would produce something like this?). Length 1:42.
Completed "Innuendo" Version
This version is very similar to the normal album version and has identical vocals to normal from both Freddie and Brian. There are some additional elements in places, but they have been added in from other sources, rather than being anything new. Towards the end of the track, some of Brian's guitar from the 'Eye' version is included, and as the track fades out there is a new synthesiser type outro with some badly placed vocals. Altogether nothing new, quite clumsy in places, and definitely not a genuine demo. Length 5:52.

Mustapha
Click here for details of the version on 'Jazz'
Faked Demo
Apparently this 'demo' is lacking the vocal intro and the majority of Brian's guitar parts. This will almost certainly be a fake, as this effect can be obtained by removing the right stereo channel; as a result most of the vocals (apart from 'mustapha') will be lost during the louder parts of the track.

My Baby Loves Me
Click here for details of the version on 'The Miracle'
Demo Version

This is the original demo and title for 'My Baby Does Me'. This track is musically almost identical to normal, but has an additional verse and a longer last verse, does not include Brian's guitar solo, and at the end it originally segued into 'I Guess We're Falling Out'. The lyrics to the track are very similar to the album version, just jumbled up rather than different. The track ends suddenly with 'alright'.

There are two versions of this song available although they are virtually identical; one at 3:24 appears to be genuine, and one at 3:35 which has the final verse repeated.
Lyrics: (lyrics in Red are added to the longer version)
Uh, ooh

My baby, my baby loves
My baby loves, me good
My baby loves
My baby loves
My baby loves me good
Uh-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby tells me that she cares
My baby tells me she really loves me
She really loves me

My lady
Understands
She understands me right
She understands
She understands
She understands me right
Yeah, yeah, yeah

My baby cares
She really cares
So good, she really knows what's good
She understands me
She understands what's right
She knows what I'm doing day and night, yeah
Really cares
Take it
Uh-oh, ah

My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby tells me that she cares
My baby tells me she really loves me
My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby loves me
My baby tells me that she cares
My baby tells me she really loves me
She really loves me
Alright

My Fairy King
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen'
BBC Session 1, 1973
This performance is very similar to normal, but in places the guitar is heavier. The lyrics are almost identical to normal, but unlike the album version, the backing vocal of 'Mercury' after 'mother Mercury' is not present. This version has been officially released on 'Queen At The Beeb'. Length 4:07.
Faked Demo
As with most faked demos, this 'demo' runs slower than the normal 4:07, and uses stereo effects to lose certain vocals. The most noticeable differences are that most of the proper vocals for the 'someone, someone' verse are lost or quieter, and the backing vocal for 'mother Mercury' is more prominent than normal. Length 4:16.

My Melancholy Blues
Click here for details of the version on 'News Of The World'
BBC Session 6, 1977
This performance is quite similar to the original version, but features guitar accompaniment by Brian. At the end of the track, instead of singing 'and meet my melancholy blues', Freddie sings 'and meet my', then laughs. Length 3:08.
Lyrics:

Another party's over
And I'm left cold sober
My baby left me for somebody new, oooh, oooh
I don't wanna talk about it
Want to forget about it
Wanna be intoxicated with that special brew

Come and get me
Let me
Get in that sinking feeling
That says my heart is on an all time low, so
Don't expect me
To behave perfectly
And wear that sunny smile
My guess is I'm in for a cloudy and overcast
Don't try and stop me
Cause I'm heading for that stormy weather soon

I'm causing a mild sensation
With this new occupation
I'm permanently glued
With this extraordinary mood
So now move over
And let me take over
With my
Melancholy blues

I'm causing a mild sensation
With this new occupation
I'm in the news
I'm just getting used to my new exposure
Come into my enclosure
And meet my
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

Nevermore
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen II'
BBC Session 4, 1974
Lyrically, this performance is almost identical to the album version, but towards the end of the track there is some guitar, which gives the track a heavier finale. The only lyric change is that the 'ahhh' backing vocals after 'can't you see' are lost. Length 1:25.
Lyrics:
There's no living in my life anymore
The seas have gone dry
And the rain stopped falling
Please don't you cry anymore
Can't you see
Listen to the breeze
Whisper to me please
Don't send me to the path of nevermore, oh, oh, oh

Even the valleys below
Where the rays of the sun
Were so warm and tender
Now haven't anything to grow
Can't you see
Why did you have to leave me (nevermore, nevermore)
Why did you deceive me (nevermore, nevermore)
You send me to the path of nevermore
When you say you didn't love me anymore (aahhh)
Ahhh, nevermore
Nevermore

Rumoured Demo Version
A 36 second version of this track appears in the film 'Highlander', which prompted long lasting rumours of a complete recording of the track. However, these rumours have been officially denied, and it does seem unlikely that a full version would exist.

Now I'm Here
Click here for details of the version on 'Sheer Heart Attack'
BBC Session 5, 1974
The music to this performance is almost identical to the album version, to the extent that it could just be the backing track from the album. If it is the album version, then it has been slightly remixed, because at about 2:20, the guitar is much more prominent. There also seem to be slight changes to the end of the track; on the album, it fades out over about 21 seconds, whilst for this version it is about 13 seconds, and there are also a couple of seconds of additional music at the end. There are very few lyric changes, although Freddie's vocals have a slight echo and sound different to the album version. Length 4:11.
Lyrics: (Lyrics in red are echoed)
Here I stand
Look around, around, around, around, around
But you won't see me

Now I'm here
Now I'm there
I'm just a
Just a new man
Yes, you made me live again

A baby I was when you took my hand
And the light of the night burned bright
The people all stared didn't understand
But you knew my name on sight

Whatever came of you and me
America's new bride to be
Don't worry baby I'm safe and sound
Down in the dungeon just Peaches 'n' me
Don't I love her so
Ooh, you made me live again
Yeah, oh yeah

Yeah
Ooh, a thin moon me in a smoke screen sky
Where the beams of your lovelight chase
Don't move, don't speak, don't feel no pain
With the rain running down my face
Your matches still light up the sky
And many a tear lives on in my eye

Down in the city just Hoople 'n' me
Don't I love him so
Oh, don't I love, love him so
Woo

Whatever comes of you and me
I love to leave my memory with you

Now I'm here
Think I'll stay around, around, around, around, around, around
Down in the city justa you 'n' me
Ow

Don't I love you so

Go, go, go little Queenie, ooh

Ogre Battle
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen II'
BBC Session 3, 1973
This version was released on 'Queen At The Beeb', but in edited form, losing the first minute of the track (and hence reducing the time to 3:57). The edit was made because the original BBC mastertapes were damaged, and it includes a range of guitar sounds as build up to the track, similar to the intro for live performances. A number of bootlegs claim to have this minute by itself, often described as 'Forgotten Intro', but in many cases they are from other live performances. The main part of the song is similar to normal, but has different guitar in places, and adds a guitar outro. Length 4:57.

One Vision
Click here for details of the version on 'A Kind Of Magic'
Demo Excerpt 1
This is quite an interesting demo which shows how the track developed. It starts with the slow keyboard section, which was originally the start of the track, then the main guitar begins. Musically this is fairly similar to normal, but with a lot more guitar. Some of the lyrics are present, but some are missing, as they were taken out of the track during mixing and used elsewhere. Length 1:44.
Demo Excerpt 2
This short excerpt features the percussion section from the track, with very raw chants of 'One Vision' over the top; the track starts and ends abruptly. Length 0:34.
Demo Excerpt 1 Lyrics:
One vision
One man, one goal, one true religion
One voice, one hope, one real decision

One worldwide vision
One man, one goal, one true religion
One race, one hope, one real decision

Demo Excerpt 2 Lyrics:
One vision
One vision
One vision, hey
One vision
One vision, haa
One vision
One vision, oh yeah
One man, one goal, one true-

Demo Version
Nothing is known about this demo, other than the fact that it was recorded in January 1986.

Pain Is So Close To Pleasure
Click here for details of the version on 'A Kind Of Magic'
Single Version
This version has been claimed to be a demo, but it is simply the single remix of the track, and is instantly recognisable because of the extra percussion and remixing. However, this is not the full single version as it starts to fade out but then stops, losing the last six seconds or so of the track. Length 3:48.

Party

Demo Version
This is a demo of the track, but it does not segue into 'Khashoggi's Ship'. However, I haven't heard it to know how the track ends.

Demo with Andy Gibb
This track is rumoured to exist, but no-one seems to have heard it. Sources suggest that the first verse is sung by brother of the Bee Gee's, Andy Gibb.

Polar Bear
Click here for details of the Smile version.
Queen Version
This is a Queen recording of the 'Smile' track, recorded in 1970 or 1971. Musically it's similar to the Smile version, but some parts are slightly different. Freddie's vocals are more powerful than Tim Staffell's, and more suited to the track. The lyrics seem more ad-libbed by Freddie, and in places don't make much sense (eg the start of the second verse), but still this performance is much better than the Smile version.

There are at least two recordings of the song; one is 3:46 in length with an immediate start and a single guitar chord at the end before an abrupt fade out, the other is 4:29 in total which has approximately 40 seconds of dialogue at the start (an argument between Roger and Brian about the speed of the track whilst Freddie tries to get on with the recording) and a slightly longer outro with more guitar chords at the end. However, the song itself is the same. In addition to this, a 1:15 excerpt of the start of the song is also available. Length 3:46.

Some sources suggest the short version is 'Take 1' and the longer version is 'Take 2', but to me they are identical; also, at the start of verse 2 Freddie sings some very odd lyrics, which are exactly the same in both versions.
Lyrics: (Freddie's vocals are partly ad-libbed in places, so the lyrics are hard to decipher, as is the dialogue at the beginning. The 4:29 version adds the dialogue in red)
Roger: We can't slow down
Freddie: Ha, ha, right, take two
Brian: I'm trying to slow it down
Roger: Well it doesn't need slowing down, it's, God, it's creeping at the moment
Freddie: Ha, ha, alright, try
(Unknown dialogue in the background, probably from Brian)
Roger: God, it was so slow, and it was getting even slower. You always try to play this like I've never
Freddie: Take two
Unknown voice: You play the fucking twelve string
Freddie: Take two, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
(Unknown dialogue in the background, probably from Brian)
Roger: Alright then, all follow you
(Some sort of 'hollering' noise in the background)
Freddie: Right, take two

In a bright shop window sits a polar bear
Makes his eyes light up but I don't see him there
Among the tinsel he gives everyone a smile
See him as you'd see a star
Love her from where you are
He's not for, not for, not for sale

(Unknown lyric) walks a pretty girl
Someone like you've seen or by it's hard to tell
Oooh, and when you see her light seem around the lie
And see her as you'd see a star
Love her from where you are
Not for, not for, not for sale

And when the lights light up
To warn the grasping hand
Minor contentment wears a smile
Ooohhh-wahh
Not for, not for, not for sale
Not for sale

Procession
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen II'
First Take (?)
This version has a similar structure to the album version, but the guitars have a noticeably different sound, and the music which links to 'Father To Son' is missing. There do not seem to be any significantly different parts, although in places it does seem to lose elements. If this is a fake, then it a much more sophisticated one than many of the others. However, the track is in almost perfect sound quality, which would be unlikely given it is 31 years old and from an unofficial source. The other possibility is of course that it isn't Brian playing, or that it doesn't originate from the 'Queen II' sessions. Length 1:08.

Put Out The Fire
Click here for details of the version on 'Hot Space'
Live Excerpt Faked Demo
This 'demo' is a bad quality recording from the 'Live In Japan' official video. Although it does sound like it could be an early version, the giveaways are the guitar at the beginning of the track (from the end of 'Now I'm Here'), and Freddie's ad-libs. The performance does not feature any audience noise, but neither does the video. Length 1:00.
Lyrics:

(Ad-libbed vocals by Freddie)
Yeah

They called him a hero
In the land of the free
I wouldn't shake his hand boy
He disappointed me, yeah
So I got my handgun
And I blew him away
Critter was a bad guy
I had to make him pay

I don't care about reason
I don't care what they say
Look out baby it's the season
Mad masquerade
Put out the fire
Put out the fire
Put out the fire
You need a bullet like a whole in the head

Rain Must Fall
Click here for details of the version on 'The Miracle'
Demo Version Extract
This is a simple demo of the track which only features cymbals from Roger, and multiple vocal overlays from Freddie. Obviously the music is much more stripped down compared to normal, but lyrically it is fairly similar to the album version. The track has a 20 second cymbal intro, and ends abruptly mid verse. This demo was recorded in the same week as the 'Khashoggi's Ship' and 'Face It Alone' demos. Length 1:13
Lyrics:
I can see it in your stars
Life is so exciting
Acting so bizarre
Your world is so inviting
Playing really cool
And looking so mysterious, honey
Your every day is full of sunshine
But into every life a little rain must fall
Uh huh
Be cool

Anyone who imagines
They can blind you with science
Bully you all over
Property and finance
But you have position
To call the shots
And name the price, honey (honey)

Demo Version
Apparently a demo exists which features additional drums and all vocals are by Roger, which is hardly surprising as he undoubtedly wrote the track.

Sail Away Sweet Sister
Click here for details of the version on 'The Game'
Instrumental Demo
This is an instrumental take of the song, and was apparently one of the first takes of the track, believed to be recorded in 1979. The music is very similar to the finished album version, but the drums are quite heavy in comparison. The track ends abruptly in this take, rather than having the slow outro. Length 3:30.

Scandal
Click here for details of the version on 'The Miracle'
Demo Version
This demo is fairly similar to normal, but it is a more basic arrangement and the guitars are more prominent. It contains three verses of the song, but the 'scandal' vocals are missing. The track fades out during Brian's guitar solo. Length 1:38.
Lyrics:
Scandal - now you've left me there's no healing the wounds
Hey, scandal - and all the world can make us out to be fools
They'll see the heart-ache
They'll see the love break
They'll hear me pleading
I say for Gods sakes
Over and over and over again

So let them know when they stare
It's just a private affair
They'll have us hung in the air
And tell me what do they care
It's only a life to be twisted and broken

They'll see the heart-ache
They'll see our love break, yeah, oooh
They'll hear me pleading
I'll say for Gods sakes
Over and over and over and over again

See What A Fool I've Been
Click here for details of the version released as the B-Side to 'Seven Seas Of Rhye'.
BBC Session 2, 1973
This version has a completely different set of lyrics to the studio version on the B-Side of 'Seven Seas Of Rhye'. The B-Side version has lyrics about a dog, whereas this version (and most other performances) have lyrics about a train and a highway. Apart from the lyrics, the only other noticeable difference is that the BBC version has slightly heavier guitar. Length 4:21.
Live Version, Hammersmith Odeon 1973
This live track is clearly not a demo, but it is included here as it includes lyrics from both of the above versions, and because I have seen this on a couple of occaisions described as a demo (even though the audience can clearly be heard in a couple of places). Length 4:05.
BBC Session Lyrics: (Click here for the live version lyrics)
Well she's gone
Gone this morning
See what a fool I've been
Oh Lord, I said
What a fool I've been
Wow

Caught a train
A train to Georgia
Sixteen coaches long
Oh Lord, I said
Sixteen coaches long, yeah
Wow

I walked out
Onto the highway
Oooh, ow, ow, ow, ow
Oh Lord, I said
Greyhound bus had gone
Wow, surprise
Now hit

Woooh
I walked out
Onto the highway
Greyhound bus had gone
Oh Lord, I said
Greyhound bus had gone
It went a long time ago, sure did
Wow

Oh, well she's gone
Gone this morning
See what a fool I've been
So long I said what a
Fo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oool
I've been, oooh

Hammersmith Odeon Lyrics:
Freddie: We'd like to leave you now with a number called 'See What A Fool I've Been'

Well she's gone
Gone this morning
See what a fool I've been
Oh Lord, I said
What a fool I've been

I caught a train
I caught a train to Georgia
Ooh, sixteen coaches long
Oh Lord, I said
Sixteen coaches long, sure did
Yeah

Ooh, ooh
Ohhh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh yeah
Alright, yeah, yeah

Oh, my dog ain't too hungry
He just, he just kept on barking, yeah
Oh, he said, he just don't feel the same, oh Lord he said
Just don't feel the same, he said I don't
He said I don't, he said I don't feel the same
Oh, but I know that I do
Come on

Ooh
Oooh

Well she's gone
Gone this morning
See what a fool I've been, oh lord I said
What a
Fo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oool
I've been
Oh yeah

Length 3:52 in total, the longest section recorded is 1:45.

This is a very short excerpt, played at one of the conventions. Just eight seconds long, this is an alternate choir vocal, which is a lot more gospel/operatic than the finished track.
Instrumental Outtakes Dialogue:
Freddie: Just er, start it a bit later
(Scream)
Unknown:
Take 3, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4

Freddie: Sorry
Unknown: Five

Unknown: Take six
Freddie: Alright

Freddie: Oh shit, I'm sorry.
Unknown: Take Seven
(Unknown diallogue follows)

Alternate Chorus Lyrics:
Anybody, anybody, anybody, anybody
Find me, find me, find me, find me

Son And Daughter
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen'
BBC Session 2, 1973
This version is extended well beyond the 3:18 album version; after the vocals normally end, there is a new guitar and drum instrumental, a 'Brighton Rock' style guitar solo, a false stop, then an additional verse and an instrumental outro. Length 6:01.
BBC Session 3, 1973
This version is basically the same structure as Session 2, but the guitar solo is longer and the track is heavier. This performance is officially available on 'Queen At The Beeb'. Length 7:07.

It is very easy to distinguish the two BBC sessions - during the false stop, there is no dialogue on Session 3, but Roger speaks on BBC Session 2.
BBC Session 2 Lyrics:
I want you
Watch out

Tried to be your son and daughter
Rolled into one
You said you'd equal any man
For having your fun
Didn't you feel surprised to find
The cap just didn't fit
The world expects a man
To buckle down and a shovel shhh-
What'll you do for loving
When it's a only just begun

I want you
To be a woman, yeah

Tried to be a preacher
And a fisher of men
An equal people preacher
Will you lead us all the same now
Ohh, well I travelled all round
The world and found
A brand new word for day
Watching the time
Mustn't linger behind
Pardon me I have to get away, wow
What'll you think of heaven
If it's a back from where you came

I want you
To be a woman
I want you to be a woman

Roger: Ahhhhhhh

Roger: Steal yourself, this is valid (????)
Hit it

Well didn't you feel surprised to find
The cap just didn't fit
The world expects a man
To buckle down and a shovel it
What'll you do for loving
When it's a only just begun

I want you
To be a woman
Oh, I want you to be a woman

Spread Your Wings
Click here for details of the version on 'News Of The World'
BBC Session 6, 1977
Although most of the track is similar to the album version, at about 4:01, there is a very fast paced section, before returning to a slower pace at 4:54 to finish the track. Length 5:19.
Lyrics:
Sammy was low
Just watching the show
Over and over again
Knew it was time
He'd made up his mind
To leave his dead life behind

His boss said to him
'Boy you'd better begin
To get those crazy notions right out of your head
Sammy, who do you think that you are?
Why can't you be happy at the Emerald Bar'

Spread your wings and fly away
Fly away, far away
Spread your little wings and fly away
Fly away, far away
Pull yourself together
'Cos you know you should do better
That's because you're a free man, yeah

He spends his evenings alone in his hotel room
Keeping his thoughts to himself, he'd be leaving soon
Wishing he was miles and miles away
Nothing in this world, nothing, could make him stay

Since he was small
He had no luck at all
Nothing came easy to him
Now it was time
He'd made up his mind
'This could be my last chance'

His boss said to him
'Now listen boy
You're always dreaming
You've got no real ambition, you won't get very far
Sammy boy, don't you know who you are?
Why can't you be happy at the Emerald Bar'

So honey
Spread your wings, fly away
Fly away, far away
Spread your little wings and fly away
Fly away, far away
Pull yourself together
'Cos you know you should do better
That's because you're a free man, yeah

So come on honey
Fly, fly with me
Far away
Oooh, let me take you
Oooh yeah

Ooh
Oh spread, come on
Spread your wings
Come on and fly, fly, fly with me
Yeah

Oooh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah
M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m fly
Oh, yeah
Alright, alright
Come on honey, fly with me, yeah
Oh spread
Oooh, yeah

Staying Power
Click here for details of the version on 'Hot Space'
Demo Version
This version is very similar to normal, but does not have any horns or saxophone. As a result, the horn solo at 1:41 is replaced by a new guitar solo, and the horns at 3:05 around 'power, power' are missing, leaving only the vocals, bass and drums. Lyrically the track is very similar to normal, with no significant lyric changes, the main addition is that Freddie sings 'let's make contact' before the first verse. As well as the full 4:12 demo, there is also an edited version in very bad quality which trims off the first second and cuts off abruptly at about 2:59. Length 4:12.
Lyrics:

Ha
Let me show it to you
Yeah
Oh
Ha, yeah
Let's make contact

See what I got
I gotta hell of a lot, yeah
Tell me what you feel
Is it real
Is it real, huh
You know I got what it takes
And I can take a lot
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power, yeah
You and me we've got, huh, staying power
Staying power, I got, I got it
Ha

I wonder when we're gonna make it
I wonder when we're gonna shake it, tell me
Rock me baby rock me
Come on you can shock me
Let's catch on to the groove
Make it move, make it move, yeah
You know how to shake that thing
We'll work it, work it, work it
You and I can play ball baby
You and me got staying power, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You and me we've got staying power

Oooohhh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, ha
I wonder when we're gonna make it, tell me
I wonder when we're gonna shake it
I've got fire down below
I'm just a regular dynamo
Want some smooth company
Don't lose control just hang on out with me
Got to get to know each other
But we got plenty of time
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power, yeah
Huh, you and me we've got staying power
Ha, yeah, yeah
Power, power, power, power
Power, power, power, staying power

I wonder when we're gonna stick it
I wonder when we're gonna trick it
Blow baby blow
Let's get down and go, go
Get yourself in the mood
Got to give a little bit of attitude
Baby don't you crash
Let's just trash, trash, trash
Did you hear the last call baby
You and me got staying power, yeah, huh, huh
You and me we got staying power, I like it
Staying power, yeah, yeah, gotcha

Stealin'
Click here for details of the version released as the B-Side to 'Breakthru'
Demo Version
This demo is obviously much longer than the normal version, and is extended by more verses/choruses and some additional instrumental sections. In places, the music and vocals are so similar that it seems that the B-side version is possibly an edit of this track. The only part of the normal version that isn't present here is the fast finale, so that possibly comes from another song. This demo features vocal overdubs by Freddie, which are in response to his normal vocals, but in some places these are hard to decipher. This track is also in stereo, with many vocals coming through the left channel only, so by removing either stereo channel gives a different version. The track ends with an acoustic/bass guitar solo. Length 11:40.
Lyrics:
Freddie: OK, so we're going, start it off anywhere you want, and I'll, I'll bring

That's the way I am (uh)
Does anybody want to know (no way)
Ha, this is the way I lead my life, you know (big deal babe)
Wheelin' and dealin' (so what) and a little bit of stealin' (ha, ha, ha, ha)
You know, that's the way I grew up
That's the only life I know (so do I)
That's the way my mother told me (so what)

And they go stealin'
Hey
Stealin'
Hey, yeah
Stealin' (tell me another thing)
I gave you the key to my home (and what)
I left you alone (so what)
In charge of my heart (tell me another thing honey)
Hey, stealin' (is that what you're doing)
You got me wheelin' and dealin' (yeah)
Playin' with my feelings (yeah)
Right from the start (OK boy, know you're trip)

Because stealin', stealin' (huh)
I gave you the key to my home (ooh, hey, hey, hey, hey)
I left you alone (ha, ha, ha)
In charge of my heart
Stealin', stealin' (that's what they call it)
Yeah, you got me wheelin' and dealin' (wheelin' and dealin')
Played with my feelings (that's what they call it)
Right from the start, uh, uh, uh, uh (OK you ain't from Harlem I know that)

Listen
Can't afford to pay my rent (so what)
I had to use my common sense (big deal)
To get you some lovin' I owe, oooh, oooh (I owe a lot of money to the bank and the rear's having a heart attack, straight)
This guy said look in my head (yeah)
Make some easy bread (look in my head), so
Stealin' is the only way that I know (tell me something else, babe)
Because stealin', stealin', hey
Stealin', stealin', ha, ha, ha, ha
That's the only life
I'm not bleedin'
Stealin'
My real cards I'm dealing
Stealin'
Stealin' (you keep that, Buster)
Only way that I know (is that all you can tell me honey)
Stealin'
There's a lot of things that I know about (I know) so what

Can't afford to play my cool (oh big deal)
I had the world in my living room, ha, ha, ha (give it a)
I owe my money too (over and over, ha)
This sad and lonely man (yeah)
The pain that I left (yeah)
Lovin' is the only way that I know (say, everybody knows that), hey
Stealin' (tell me somethin' else, hey)
Stealin' (is that what you know about)
I gave you the key to my home (big deal)
Left you alone (so what) right from the start, ha, ha, ha, ha
Stealin' (I can get a better job than that - are you telling me?)
You got me wheelin' and dealin' (so)
Played with my feelings (big) right from the start (you fool around)
Yeah, but I'm stealin', baby, stealin'
Stealin', stealin'
I gave you (ha) both my heart and my home (yeah)
Left you alone (yeah) now you're breaking me apart
So what about this, ha, I can't stand you talking about all this all night
Stealin' (big deal)
Uh

Alright
You know there's been a lot of stealin' (uh huh, huh, huh, huh)
I only make my living stealin' (I'm gonna go home and get my chicken feed, big deal)
Make my livin' only stealin'
Stealin' (so what), stealin' (that's your problem honey)
Of my heart (goodbye)
You're my baby's heart
(Only, only) OK, kill it
(Ad-libbed lyrics) stealin'

Uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, uh
Stea-eeeee -
Oooooh - eeeee

(Ad-libbed vocals)
(Ad-libbed vocals)

You've got me wheelin' and dealin'

Because you are in charge of my heart

You are in charge of my heart
You are in charge of my heart
You are in charge of my heart
I gave you the key
And turned on the bed
I gave you the key
(Ad-libbed lyric) I said my baby
You are in charge of my heart
And you are in charge of my heart, yeah
You are in charge of my heart, babe
You are in charge of my heart

I gave you the key my home and left you alone
I left you with my lovin' and made it my heart
And all my pleadin', and dealin' and pleadin' with my heart
I gave you wheelin' and dealin' right from the start
I left you in charge, in charge of my heart
I left you, babe, in charge of my heart
I left you in charge of my heart
I said I left you in charge of my heart, yeah

Stealin'
Bleedin'
Dealin'
Real in my heart, hey

Right from the start
In charge of my heart
Baby let 'em bleed
You know I gotta getta bit of dealin'
You know I've been pleadin'

I left you alone in charge of my heart
Gotta do my wheelin' and dealin'
I played with my feelings right, right from the start

Can't afford to pay my rent
I had to use my common sense
To get the money I let 'em owe
You said that my love had gone
And I'm stealin'
Got me dealin'

Ain't no other way
That's the only life I know
That's the only way I wanna go

Dealin'
Only way I know

My baby loves me
She knows that I love me
(Ad-libbed vocals, then dialogue from Roger which sounds like 'let it strip', followed by coughing)

Stone Cold Crazy
Click here for details of the version on 'Sheer Heart Attack'
BBC Session 5, 1974
As with 'Now I'm Here', this performance is so similar to the album version, it could just be the album version backing track. On the album, Freddie's vocals have a slight echo, whereas on this version they are normal. Length 2:11.
Lyrics:
Sleeping very soundly on a Saturday morning I was dreaming I was Al Capone
There's a rumour going round, gotta clear outta town
Yeah, I'm smelling like a dry fish bone
Here come the law, gonna break down the door, gonna carry me away once more
Never, I never, I never get it any more
Gotta get away from this stone cold floor
Crazy
Stone cold crazy, you know

Ahh
Yeah

Rainy afternoon I gotta blow a typhoon and I'm playing on my slide trombone
Anymore, anymore, cannot take it anymore
Gotta get away from this stone cold floor
Crazy
Stone cold crazy, you know

Hit 'em - haa
Ahhh
Ohh
Wow

Walking down the street, shooting people that I meet
With my rubber tommy water gun
Here come the deputy, he's gonna come and getta me
I gotta get me get up and run
They got the sirens loose
I got right outta juice
They're gonna put me in a cell, if I can't go to heaven
Then they let me go to hell
Crazy
Stone cold crazy, you know

Ow

Demo Version
Apparently an early demo exists from 1983, which has Brian singing vocals, presumably intended as a guide for Freddie.

Tenement Funster
Click here for details of the version on 'Sheer Heart Attack'
Demo Version
Apparently this demo is an instrumental version which sounds very similar to the album version (including the piano intro to 'Flick Of The Wrist').
BBC Session 5, 1974
Musically this version is very similar to the album version, so it could be a backing track from the album. The track has a proper ending (just like the Japanese 3" CD version), however it does feature new vocals by Roger which have a slight echo. The main lyric difference is that on the album version, 'young and you're crazy' is sung four times in total whereas on this version it is only sung three times. Length 2:54.
BBC Session Lyrics:

My new purple shoes
Been amazing the people next door
And my rock 'n' roll 45's
Been enraging the folks on the lower floor

I got a way with the girls on my block
Try my best be a real individual
And when we go down to Smokies and rock
They line up like it's some kinda ritual

Ooh, give me a good guitar
And you can say that my hair's a disgrace (ooooh)
Or, just find me an open car
I'll make the speed of light outta this place

Um, I like the good things in life
But most of the best things ain't free (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
So the same situation
Just cuts like a knife
When you're young, and you're poor, and you're crazy
(Young and you're crazy, young and you're crazy, young and you're crazy)

Ooh, give me a good guitar
And you can say that my hair's a disgrace (ooooh)
Or, just find me an open car
I'll make the speed of light outta this place

The Hitman
Click here for details of the version on 'Innuendo'
Demo Version
This short version is very similar to the album version, but features Brian on lead vocals. It features the first two verses, but there are a number of lyric changes; the most notable is that the line 'I'm just it man, you might get fried' is changed to 'don't gimme no shit man, you might get fried'. This demo is officially available on the promo only 'Hints Of Innuendo' cassette. Length 0:54.

The Invisible Man
Click here for details of the version on 'The Miracle'
Demo Version, Freddie Vocal
This demo is a more basic version of the album track, but it is restructured and adds a new verse, which is dominated by bass and contains completely different lyrics. Length 1:19.
Demo Version, Roger Vocal
Apparently this demo features Roger on vocals and is musically much more basic.
Fan Club Message
This message was played from tape at the 1989 Queen convention, and begins with Brian's guitar solo, then has a long instrumental section (obviously derived from the album track) and fades out in a similar way to the album version. The track has no lyrics as such, but retains Freddie's introductions of 'Brian May, Brian May' and 'Roger Taylor' from the album version, and features messages from Brian, John, Freddie (mostly sung) and Roger in turn. Length 2:04.
Freddie Vocal Demo Lyrics: (Click here for the Fan Club Message dialogue)
I'm the invisible man
I'm the invisible man
Incredible how you can
See right through me

When you hear a sound
That you just can't place
Feel something move
That you just can't trace
When something sits
On the end of your bed
Don't turn around
When you hear me tread

I'm the invisible man
I'm the invisible man
Incredible how you can
See right through me

I'm the invisible man
I'm the invisible man
It's criminal how I can
See right through you

Was it the shinings of my soul
That made me lonely just like you
No-one noticed I was there
When I walked into the room

Never had a real good friend - not a boy or a girl
No-one knows what I've been through - let my flag unfurl
Swore I'd make my mark
From the edge of the world
From the edge of the world (edge of the world)

I'm the invisible man
I'm the invisible man
Incredible how you can
See right through me

Fan Club Message Dialogue:

Right, and I just hope you have a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful time at the convention and we hope to see you very, very soon, with lots of la musica (????)

John: Hello this is John Deacon, hope you're enjoying the er, convention, having a nice time, having a few drinks, and we've been working hard all year making the album, and we hope you enjoy it.

Roger: We're going off skiing now

Freddie: Hello, it's Freddie here. I hope each and every one of you at the convention is having a swell, humdinger of a time, yeah, yeah

Roger Taylor

Roger: Hello, this is Roger here, we hope you have a wonderful fan club convention, and er, we hope you enjoy the new album as well. Bye everybody.

The March Of The Black Queen
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen II'
Instrumental Takes 3-5:
These are three instrumental takes of the start of the track, which generally appear together on the same MP3, which also contains an intro by Greg Brooks and some studio noise between takes. The demos feature Freddie, Roger and John, there are no lyrics (other than a few ad-libs), and the diallogue that you can hear is minimal. Musically, the takes are very similar to the album version but there are subtle differences, mainly in tempo. Combined MP3 Length 6:44 - Take 3 : 1:10, Take 4: 0:53 and Take 5: 3:15.
BBC Session 4, 1974
This version is identical to the album version, fading out as 'Funny How Love Is' begins. Sources suggest that either Queen ran out of studio time and were unable to record a fourth track, or that they were unhappy with what they did record, so the album version was broadcast instead. This means that possibly the track was recorded but not broadcast, but if so then it is likely to have been lost as the BBC tapes were destroyed many years ago.

This does, however, seem an unlikely track to attempt to record, given it's length and complexity, and Queen never recreated it on stage in full. 'Father To Son' or 'Seven Seas Of Rhye' would have been a more logical choice and would both have been far easier to perform.
Instrumental Takes 3-5 Diallogue:
Greg Brooks: Somewhere on this [recording cuts out] two days before they find the masters, so let's try and find that
Unknown voice: Take 3
Greg Brooks: By the way, before we hear it, if you really listen carefully, if you're allowed to in this room, erm, you hear, you hear erm, at some point in this take, Brian says something to Freddie, and Freddie ponders it, and he says "yeah, you're absolutely right. You're dead right, actually" he says, and erm, then they carry on. We don't know what he says, but whatever it was, it was dead right. You can't, this isn't really the ideal place to hear those little details, but you, when you get this on the box set, you'll hear that Brian is probably in the control room, Freddie will be on the piano, and John will be there and Roger, and he's directing tempo, and erm, there's, there's interaction between them. And then when they get the rhythm track, he'll go in the next day and do the guitar. So this, let's hear this.

Freddie: Ohhh, (unknown diallogue), take 4. It was me. Oh shit. That was good, just, not too slow. Alright then. Two, three, four

Unknown voice: Take 5
Freddie: Two, three, four

The Millionaire Waltz
Click here for details of the version on 'A Day At The Races'
Faked Demo
This version runs faster than the album version (4:53), and the main differences are that the lead vocals are much quieter than normal (but still audible), some of Brian's guitar parts are either missing or quieter, and it is also missing the first couple of seconds of the track. Length 4:36.

The Miracle
Click here for details of the version on 'The Miracle'
Demo Version
This is basically a demo version of the start of the track, just until the 'if every leaf on every tree' verse would normally begin. Again this is a more basic performance of the album version, and it loses the backing vocals but adds a single additional lyric (Freddie sings 'the miracle' just before 'we're all waiting for'). The track is missing guitar from some places, whilst there is additional guitar in others. Length 1:38.
Lyrics:
Every drop of rain that falls in Sahara Desert says it all
It's a miracle
All God's creations great and small, the Golden Gate and the Taj Mahal
That's a miracle
Test tube babies being born, mothers, fathers, dead and gone
It's a miracle

We're having a miracle on earth
Mother nature does it all for us
The wonders of this world go on, the hanging gardens of Babylon
Captain Cook and Cain and Able, Jimi Hendrix to the tower of Babel
It's a miracle
It's a miracle
It's a miracle
It's a miracle

The one thing
We're all waiting for is peace on earth an end to war
It's a miracle we need - the miracle
The miracle (the miracle) we're all waiting for
Today

The Night Comes Down
Click here for details of the version on 'Queen'
Demo Version
This demo is actually on the debut album 'Queen'. The band were unhappy with their own subsequent performances, and with Roy Thomas Baker's production of the track, so they resorted to using the demo version for the album. However, of course, this means that there are a number of subsequent recordings which remain unreleased.
Faked Demos
These 'demos' are just the familiar 4:23 album (demo) version, running slightly faster or slower. The 4:32 version seems to be unchanged, and presumably this also applies to the 4:17 version. Lengths 4:17 and 4:32.

The Prophet's Song
Click here for details of the version on 'A Night At The Opera'
Demo / Early Mixed Version
On 'The Making Of 'A Night At The Opera'', interviews with Roger and Roy Thomas Baker reveal that the track was still being mixed at the time of a press conference, and so a 'cobbled together' version was used, and subsequently played on radio by Kenny Everett. Apart from this, nothing else is known about this 'demo'.

There Must Be More To Life Than This
Click here for details of the version which was later released on Freddie's 'Mr Bad Guy'
Queen Version
This Freddie solo track was initially developed for 'Hot Space', and then intended to end 'The Works', before 'Is This The World We Created...?' replaced it. Some sources suggest that the Queen version is actually on 'Mr Bad Guy', although this seems unlikely.

Tie Your Mother Down
Click here for details of the version on 'A Day At The Races'
KEWB Radio
This version includes the entire 'A Day At The Races' guitar intro, and Brian adds extra guitar throughout the rest of the song. Unlike some of the KEWB tracks, there is no dialogue present, but there is however a nasty glitch at about 3:09. Length 4:27.
Guide Vocal Demo
This demo is musically very similar to normal, although there are some minor differences, including more guitar in places. However, it features a guide vocal from Brian, and no involvement from Freddie. The vocals are only very faint and in places difficult to make out, but definitely there. Some of the harmonied vocals are probably present on the album version. Length 3:41.
Lyrics:
Get your party gown
Get your pigtail down
Get your heart beating, baby
Got my timing right
I've got my act all tight
It's gotta be tonight my little schoolbabe
Mamma says you don't
And your daddy says you won't
And I'm bottling up inside
Ain't no way I'm gonna lose out this time

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Lock your daddy out of doors
I don't need him nosing around
Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight

You're such a dirty louse
Go get out of my house
That's all I ever get from your
Family ties, in fact I don't think I ever heard
A single little civil word from those guys
But you know I don't give a light
I'm gonna make out all right
Got a sweetheart hand
To put a stop to all that
Fighting and sniping

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Take your little brother swimming
With a brick,
(unknown lyric)
Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Or you ain't no friend of mine
You ain't no friend of mine, no

Oooh, your mummy and your daddy gonna
Plague me till I die
They don't understand it
I'm just a peace loving guy

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down

Tie your mother down
Tie your mother down
Give me all your love tonight

All your love tonight

Too Much Love Will Kill You

1988/9 Demo, Freddie Vocal
This demo, originally intended for 'The Miracle', is similar to the version that appeared on 'Made In Heaven', but features a different vocal from Freddie. However the structure of the song is slightly different - instead of two verses then a chorus it has the first verse, then chorus, then the second verse and a chorus, before fading out. However the demo seems to be edited between the first verse and first chorus, and seems to continue after it fades out, so the original take may well be different. Length 2:01.

Apparently another demo exists which has Brian singing lead vocals and Freddie accompanying him, and it also has some extra drums.
Freddie Vocal Demo Lyrics:

I'm just the pieces of the man I used to be
Too many bitter tears are raining down on me
I'm far away from home
And I've been facing this alone for much too long, ooh

Yeah, too much love will kill you
If you can't make up your mind
Torn between the lover
And the love you leave behind
You're headed for disaster
'Cos you've never read the signs
Too much love will kill you - every time

I feel like no-one ever told the truth to me
About growing up and what a struggle it would be
In my tangled state of mind
I've been looking back to find where I went wrong

Yes, too much love will kill you
Just as sure as none at all
It'll drain the power that's in you
Make you plead and scream and crawl
And the pain will make you crazy
You're the victim of your crime
Too much love will kill you - every time

Demo Version
The original version of this song was called 'Feel Like' and full details are available
here. However, it is also believed that genuine demos of the track exist (either with or without David Bowie).
KEWB Radio
This version contains three parts - a 1:12 guitar intro, a 1:38 edit of the album version, and a 23 second outro. So far I have seen versions which include various edits of these, but all include dialogue from Brian or the DJ and so they are all easily identifiable. Brian introduces the album track with a guitar version of the famous bassline, then the song cuts in on the 'blind man' vocals (at about 2:07), and continues to the end. Brian's extra guitar is alongside the album version, rather than drowning it out, and the result is a great version with a different feel; it's just a pity that it's such a short version and that it has dialogue in places. Length 3:13

Demo Version
This remake was apparently presented to the record company, but was rejected as it is too much of a departure from the original version. Some sources suggest it contains acoustic guitar throughout.

Percussion Track
Not a demo in any way, but somebody has probably claimed it to be. This is simply an instrumental version of the track without any vocals, or even Brian's guitar. So basically it is 2 minutes of feet stamping and hand clapping, and could hardly be less interesting. Length 2:03
BBC Session 6, 1977
This version combines a shortened slow version (1:13), an explosion and reading of Siddhartha (by Herman Hesse) (0:21) followed by a fast version of the track (2:44). The fast version has officially been released, on the free 'Sun' CD single in 2002, and it's lyrics can be found here. Length 4:19.
Lyrics: ('Slow' version and reading)

Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playing in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on your face
You big disgrace
Kicking your can all over the place
Singing

We will, we will, rock you
We will, we will, rock you, come on
We will, we will, rock you
We will, we will, rock you

????? believed in a creator God, Brachma. The Buddha rejected Brahmism and mocked at its rituals. As for Brachma, the Buddha didn't deny his existance, but regarded him as a deluded spirit, who imagined he had created the universe

'Smile' Version
This track is also believed to have been recorded by Smile, but this is only a rumour as nobody ever seems to have heard it, and the existence has been officially denied.
BBC Session 4
This is a performance of the album track, beginning with the guitar at 0:12 and continuing until the last vocals at 4:33. This track has the same feel as other live performances of the song, has piano throughout, and adds a great piano/guitar solo. Length 4:46.

BBC Session Lyrics:

So sad her eyes
Smiling dark eyes
So sad her eyes
As it began

On such a breathless night as this
Upon my brow the lightest kiss
I walked alone
And all around the air did say
My lady soon will stir this way
In sorrow known
The white queen walks and the night grows pale
Stars of lovingness in her hair

Needing - unheard
Pleading - one word
So sad her eyes
She cannot see

How did thee fare, what have thee seen
The mother of the willow green
I call her name
'Neath the window have I stayed
I loved the foot steps that she made
And when she came
White queen how my heart did ache
And dry my lips no words could make
Still I wait

My Goddess hear my darkest fear
I speak too late
It's for evermore that I wait

Dear friend, goodbye
No tears in my eyes
So sad it ends
As it began

Faked Demo
I haven't heard this track, but apparently it loses most of Freddie's lead vocals, which would mean that the right stereo channel has been removed. This would gives an (almost) instrumental version, but Freddie's vocals would be just about audible.

Demo Version
Apparently a number of demos exist, although very little is known about them. It is possible that these demos are quite different to the album versions, as the track was changed even between appearing in the film Highlander and the release of the album.

You And I

Faked Demo
This version runs slower than the album version (3:24), and seems identical to the album version apart from one change. During the 'you know I never could foresee the future years' verse, the right stereo channel has been removed, which means the 'do, do' backing vocals are lost. It would actually have been more interesting if they had removed the left channel, as this would have removed Freddie's lead vocals. Length 3:32.

Faked Demo (often described as 'Mono Demo Duet')
This version omits the intro and outro, effectively running from 0:46 to 4:35 (approx), and runs slower than the album version (the section should last 3:49). However, there do not seem to be any other changes. Length 4:01.
