Queen 'Heineken Queen's Day'

This page includes full details of the 'Queen's Day' CD-Rom, which was exclusively available in the Netherlands through the Heineken website in 2002. It includes videos about the concert which was performed at the Musumplein, Amsterdam, on 30 April 2002, as part of the 'Queen's Day' celebrations, marking the anniversary of Queen Beatrix's ascension to the throne. The concert was free, and broadcast live on TV and radio, and was only announced on the day of the show itself. Nine tracks were performed in all, and five of them appear as unedited video tracks on the CD. The show featured Roger and Brian, with Jamie Moses (guitar), Spike Edney (keyboards), Steve Barnacle (bass), Eric Singer (drums), Zoe Nicholas and Susie Webb (backing vocals), and guest vocalists Patti Russo and Trijnte Oosterhuis.

The CD also includes features on the 'We Will Rock You' musical, which had it's world premiere 2 weeks later. The menus are thus divided into two areas:

1. Backstage (5:34) (footage of Brian and Roger arriving and leaving, backstage, the soundcheck, and brief interview snippets, with excerpts of 'You're My Best Friend' and the studio version of 'Another One Bites The Dust'. For some reason this appears three times on the disc)

4. The Audience (2:02) (various footage of the audience, with an excerpt of 'Seven Seas Of Rhye')
5. Interviews (10:51) (excerpts from TV coverage, featuring numerous interviews with Brian and Roger seperately and together, with clips of 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and 'Another One Bites The Dust' from the musical, and the 'Save Me' promo video)

The Musical
This section features biographies of the creative team and cast of the musical, plus wallpapers, screensaver, and two videos:

7. Open Auditions (5:15) (footage of the auditions, with an excerpt of the Queen version of 'Somebody To Love')

Finally, the menu includes weblinks for Heineken, QueenOnline and 'We Will Rock You', and a Heineken screensaver. The disc also includes a 30 second trailer for the musical, featuring 3-5 second clips of numerous tracks, but this does not seem to be linked to from the menus
.

Radio Ga Ga

Track 1. Lead vocals sung by Roger Taylor. Length 5:48.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'The Works' album page.

Lyrics:
(Introduction from announcer)

(Radio)
I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio

You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh, you made us cry
You made us feel like we could fly
(Radio)

So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know, just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio (radio)

Everybody
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Oh, radio, someone still loves you

We watch the shows, we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
Our music changes through the years

Let's hope you'll never leave old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So stick around 'cos we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio

All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Oh, radio, someone still loves you

One, two
One, two
(Radio ga ga)
(Radio ga ga)
(Radio ga ga)
(Radio)

You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio (radio)

All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo, radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Oh, radio, someone still loves you
Loves you

'Tie Your Mother Down' (with vocals by Brian) and 'Another One Bites The Dust' (with vocals by Patti Russo) (not released)

Under Pressure

Track 2. Lead vocals sung by Roger Taylor and Patti Russo. Length 3:49.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'Hot Space' album page.

Lyrics: (the lyrics in white are sung by Roger, those in red by Patti, and those in blue are jointly sung)
Um, boom, bah, bay
Ba, ba, boom, bah, bay
Ba, ba, boom, bah, bay, dah

Pressure pressing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for

Under pressure
Burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets

Um, bah, bah, day
Um, bah, bah, day
Eh, day, dah
Eh, day, dah
That's OK

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming

Let me out
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets

Day, day, dah
Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah
OK

Chipping around - kick my brains around the floor
(ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)
These are the days, it never rains but it pours
Dee, doh, dah, dee (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Eh, dah, dah, bah, bop (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Eh, doh, doh (oooh)
Bah, dop

People on streets
Eh, dah, dee, dah, dee (ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh)
People on streets
Eh, dah, dee, dah, dee, dah, dee, dah (aahhhh)
It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends screaming

Let me out
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people
People on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work

Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn
Why - why - why?

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking

Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we
give love, give love, give love
Give love, give love, give love, give love

'Cos love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to
Care for the people on the
Edge of the night
And love dares you to
Change our way of

Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves

The Show Must Go On

Track 3. Lead vocals sung by Patti Russo. Length 4:23.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'Innuendo' album page.

Lyrics:
Empty spaces, what are we living for
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for

Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore

The show must go on
The show must go on, yeah
Inside my heart is breaking
My make up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on

Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for

I guess I'm learning (I'm learning, I'm learning, I'm learning), I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning (turning, turning, turning) round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free

The show must go on
The show must go on, yeah, yeah
Inside my heart is breaking
My make up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on

Yeah
Woah-woah

My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly my friends

The show must go on, yeah, yeah
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On with the show

Ooh, I'll top the bill
I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the show
On with the show
The show must go on

Brian: Alright, people of Amsterdam....

We Will Rock You

Track 4. Lead vocals sung by Brian May. Length 2:29.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'News Of The World' album page.

Lyrics:
Brian: ....we will attempt to rock you

Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playing in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on your face
You big disgrace
Kicking that can all over the place
Come on

We will, we will, rock you, let's hear you
We will, we will, rock you, beautiful

Buddy you're a young man, hard man
Fighting in the street gonna take on the world some day
Blood on your face
Big disgrace
Waving that banner all over the place
Singing

We will, we will, rock you, hey
We will, we will, rock you

Brian: Sounds pretty good

Buddy you're an old man, poor man
Pleading with your eyes gonna take you some peace some day
Mud on your face
You big disgrace
Somebody better put you back into your place

We will, we will, rock you, beautiful, and again
We will, we will, rock you, and again
We will, we will, rock you, one more time
We will, we will, rock you

We Are The Champions

Track 5. Lead vocals sung by Trijnte Oosterhuis. Length 4:56.
The above time includes a keyboard intro as Brian introduces the guest vocalist. The actual length of the song is 4:06.
Details of the original version can be found on the 'News Of The World' album page.

Lyrics:
Brian: Thank you. Beautiful people of Amsterdam and of Holland. We'd like to introduce you to a very special friend of ours and also a very special friend of yours. We're very honoured and pleased to have us, to have her with us tonight, ladies and gentlemen, Trijnte.

Ooooh
Ooooh, yeah
Ooooh
Yeah, yeah

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through
On and on and on and on

We are the champions, my friends
We'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cos we are the champions
Of the world

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You've brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it, I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose
On and on and on and on
Sing

We are the champions, my friends, yeah
We'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cos we are the champions
Of the world

We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cos we are the champions
Yeah, of
The world

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oooh
Yeah
