Mr, You're A Better Man Than I
The Yardbirds, 2003. From the album 'Birdland'. Brian plays guitar. Length 3:22.
Written by M. Hugg and B. Hugg.
Lyrics:
Can you judge a man
By the way he wears his hair?
Can you read his mind
By the clothes that he wears?
Or can you tell a bad man
By the pattern on his tie?

Then Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I
Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I

Could you judge a wise man
By the way he speaks or spells?
Is this more important
Than the story that he tells?
And call a man a fool
If for wealth he doesn't strive

Then Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I
Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I

Could you condemn a man
If your faith he doesn't hold?
Say the colour of his skin
Is the colour of his soul?
Or could you say if men
For king and country all must die?

Then Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I
Mr, you're a better man than I
Yeah, Mr, you're a better man than I

Doing Alright
Tim Staffell, 2003. From the album 'Amigo'. Brian plays guitar and sings joint vocals. Length 3:42
Written by Tim Staffell and Brian May.
This song was previously recorded by
Smile and later by Queen
Lyrics: (Lyrics in Red are sung by Brian; those in Black are sung by Tim)
Yesterday my life was in ruin
Now today, ooh, I know what I'm doing
I gotta feeling, I should be doing alright
Doing alright (doing alright), that's right

Where will I be this time tomorrow
Jumped in joy or sinking in sorrow
Anyway, I should be doing alright, yeah
Doing alright (doing alright), doing alright

I should be waiting for the sun (I should be waiting for the sun)
And anyway I've got to hide away (anyway I've got to hide)
I should be waiting for the skies to clear
But there ain't time in all the world

Ha, ha, ha, ha, in the meantime
We'll be doing alright

Yesterday my life was in ruin
Now today I know what I'm doing, hey
I gotta feeling, I should be doing alright
Doing alright (doing
alright), doing alright

I should be waiting for the sun (I should be waiting for the sun)
And anyway I've got to hide away (anyway I've got to hide)
I should be waiting for the skies to clear
But there ain't no time in all the world

Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do, doing alright
Do, do, do-do,
doing alright
Do, do, do-do, doing alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do, doing alright,
doing alright now
Do, do, do-do, doing alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do,
alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do, doing alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do,
doing alright
Do, do, do-do, doing alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do,
doing alright
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do
Do, do, do-do, I'm doing alright
Do, do, do-do,
he's doing alright
Do, do, do-do

Earth
Tim Staffell, 2003. From the album 'Amigo'. Brian plays guitar and sings joint vocals. Length 4:47
Written by Tim Staffell.
This song was previously recorded by
Smile
Lyrics: (Lyrics in Red are sung by Brian; those in Black are sung by Tim)
I might be at a table
And suddenly I'll catch
A fleeting vision of those crystal seas

Or I might be standing in a crowded dockyard faraway
Underneath the sun I've never seen

'Cos I have seen (seen) many worlds
But what's it worth, oooh, oooh
If I never (never) see again planet earth

I might be chasing waves of light
Out beyond the rim
Where stars are sparse
And the cold of space seeps in
Or I might be in a bar room
Drinking methylated gin
And thinking of the places I have been

'Cos, I have seen (seen, seen) many worlds
But what's it worth
Umm (chasing waves of light and)
If I never see again that old planet earth (planet earth)
Oh no

Ummm
Oooh, oooh
Oooh, oooh
I have seen (seen, seen) many worlds
But what's it worth
Umm (chasing waves of light and)
If never, no I'll never (see again) that old planet earth (planet earth)
My earth

Cast adrift amongst the stars
I float from sun to sun
Dreaming of the world that gave us birth
Oooh, all the places I have seen
Remind me there is none
That get back to the rolling hills of earth

'Cos I have seen (seen, seen) many worlds (many worlds)
But what's it worth, oooh
If I never (never, never) see again (see again) the planet earth (planet earth)
Oooh, my earth

Il Mare....
Zucchero, 2004. Brian plays guitar.
Written by Zucchero. The lyrics to the song are virtually all in Italian.
The full title of the track is: "Il Mare Impetuoso Al Tramonto Sali Sulla Luna E Dietro Una Tendina Di Stelle...."
Many thanks to Agostino for the lyrics.

1. Album Version (3:55) (on the 'Zucchero & Co' album)
2. Live Version (4:17) (on the 'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' CD and DVD, recorded on 6 May 2004)
Lyrics:
Voglio vederti ballare
senza tabù
un ballo da strappamutande
fallo di più
come on sister
è un volo proibito
amore e sesso, sesso, sesso
sono un assetato
xché tu sei l'acqua, l'acqua del peccato!
Il mare impetuoso al tramonto
salì sulla luna e dietro una
tendina di stelle...

Voglio vederti toccare
seduta nel bar
oppure davanti all'altare
a un passo da me,
come on sister
a un passo non posso
amore e sesso, sesso, sesso
sono un affamato
xché tu sei il pane, il pane del peccato!

Il mare impetuoso al tramonto
salì sulla luna e dietro una
tendina di stelle...

E sentirai la mia pelle
ovunque tu sarai
sulla tua pelle
sulla tua pelle

Balla bella,
che sei bella, come il peccato!

Il mare impetuoso al tramonto
salì sulla luna e dietro una
tendina di stelle...

e sentirai la mia pelle
ovunque tu sarai
sulla tua pelle
sulla tua pelle

Voglio vederti ballare, oddio non resisto
Voglio vederti vibrare, oddio non resisto
Voglio vederti godere, oddio non resisto
Voglio, ti voglio godere, oddio non resisto

Il mare impetuoso al tramonto
salì sulla luna e dietro una
tendina di stelle... se la chiavò!

Someone To Die For

Words by Alain Johannes, Natasha Shneider and Chris Cornell
Music by Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider
Produced by Rick Rubin, mixed by Jason Lader
Recorded by Jason Lader, Thom Russo and Justin Shirley Smith.

Lyrics:
Before you ended
I had a will but didn't know what it could do
You were abandonned
And still you're handing out what you don't wanna lose
You make me drop things
Like all the plans I had for a life without you

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone
Like you

I'm drunk when sober
The room is spinning you are what I hold onto
You're taking over
I find that giving in is the best I can do

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone
Like you

Someone to die for
Someone to die for
Someone to die
Someone
Someone
Someone

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone
Someone
Like you

Lyrics:
Niente di nuovo
tranne l'affitto per me
che mi ritrovo
e mi riperdo perché
non ho più un Dio non ho
e ho perso l'anima
vago nel vento
vado però!
Niente di nuovo
tranne l'affitto per me
che ci riprovo
e non capisco cos'è
ti amo perché ne ho bisogno
non perché ho bisogno di te
io vago nel vento
vado però!

Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima

Niente di nuovo man
tranne l'affitto per me
e non è per caso che
vengo in ginocchio da te
madre dolcissima
carezzami la testa
che vado nel vento
vago però!

Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima

Jesus is breaking
Jesus is breaking
Jesus is breaking
Jesus is breaking

Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Mama salvami l'anima
Hey Mama salvami l'anima

All The Way From Memphis
Ian Hunter, 2004. Length 5:25
Brian sings backing vocals and plays guitar.
The track also features Joe Elliott on some lead vocals, and Mick Ralphs (guitarist of Bad Company).
Written by Ian Hunter; recorded by Mott The Hoople in 1973, and reached number 10 in the chart.
Recorded at the Astoria Theatre, London, on 28th May 2004, and released on the DVD 'Just Another Night'.
Brian has also released a studio version of this track, click
here for details.

The soundcheck on the DVD also features the track, with a rehearsal lasting approximately 5:07, which is followed by under a minute of dialogue between Brian, Mick Ralphs and Ian Hunter about the track. The sound quality is far inferior to the concert version, so the piano and vocals are quieter, but at the same time the drums and guitar sound much heavier. Although some lyrics can be heard, many are too quite to decipher. However, most lyrics are unsurprisingly the same as the concert version.
Lyrics:
Ian Hunter: Many, many years ago, you know, er, we had a lot of good bands open for us, and probably the biggest band of all was a band called Queen, yeah, they opened for us here and they opened for us in America, ladies and gentlemen Brian May. Joe Elliott, come on Joe, let's go. Where's Mr Elliott? Oh there he is. Brian covered one of my songs, did a very good job, and he knows the words, so shall we have a go?
Joe Elliott: Alright then.
Ian Hunter: Alright

Alright, wow
Hit me

I forgot my six string razor
And hit the sky
Half way to Memphis
'Fore I realised

But I rang the information
My axe was cold
They said she rides a train
Down to Oriole

Now it's a mighty long way down the dusty trail
And the sun burns hot on the cold steel rail
I look like a bum and crawl like a snail
All the way from Memphis
Yeah

Well I got to Oriole, you know
It took a month
And there was my guitar
Electric junk

Some spacey rock 'n' rollers
You're all the same
Well that's your instrument
I felt so ashamed

Now it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
From the Liverpool Docks to the Hollywood Bowl
And you climb up the mountains and fall down the holes
All the way from Memphis
Brian

Alright
Yeah it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
'Cos your name gets hot and your heart grows cold
You gotta stay a young man, you can never be old
All the way from Memphis

Yeah it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
From the Bradford Cities to the Oriole
And you look like a star but you're still on the dole
All the way from Memphis

Yeah it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
From the Liverpool Docks to the Hollywood Bowl
You gotta be a young man, you can never be old
All the way to Memphis

Yeah

I say all the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)

Ian Hunter: That's your lot. Joe Elliott, Brian May, Andy, Mick Ralphs, Gus, God bless, goodnight.

Lyrics: (lyrics in red appear in the song selection screen edit)
In the morning don't say you love me
'Cos you know I'm gonna kick you out the door
I know your name is Rita 'cos your perfume's smellin' sweeter
Since when I saw you down on the floor
Guitar

Don't need too much persuading
I don't mean to sound degrading
But with a face like that you don't, nothing, nothing to laugh about
Red lips, hair and fingernails
I hear your a mean old jezebel
Let's go upstairs and read my tarot cards, come on

Stay with me
Stay with me
For tonight you're gonna stay with me

Stay with me
Stay with me
For tonight you're gonna stay with me

Come on
Yeah, yeah

So in the morning please don't say you love me
'Cos you know I'm gonna kick you out the door
Yeah, I'll pay your cab fare home

Bad For Good
Meat Loaf, 2006. Length 7:30. Brian plays guitar.
Written by Jim Steinman.
Appears on the album 'Bat Out Of Hell III : The Monster Is Loose', which reached no 3 in the UK charts.
This track originates from the 1981 Jim Steinman album of the same name.
A live version of the track also appears on the DVD 'Three Bats Live', but does not feature Brian.
Lyrics:
The sea is whipping the sky
The sky is whipping the sea
You can hide away forever from the storm
But you'll never hide away from me

The icy cold will cut us like a knife in the dark
And we may lose everything in the wind
But the northern lights are burning
And they're giving off sparks
I want to wrap myself around you like a winter skin

You know I'm onto your scent
We're near the end of the chase
Take a look out your window
I'll be there in the night
Oh, your love is so close that I can almost taste it

The cold will cut us like a knife in the dark
And we may lose everything in the wind (lose everything in the wind)
But the northern lights are burning and they're giving off sparks (sparks)
I want to wrap myself around you like a winter skin

You've been living your life like a girl in a cage
And you whisper when I want you to shout (whisper when I want you to shout)
And I'll never know why you wanna go on sleeping
When there's nothing left to dream about
But you'd better remember

If it's something I want then it's something I need
I wasn't built for comfort I was build for speed
If it's something I want giving something I need
I wasn't built for comfort I was build for speed

And I know that I'm gonna be like this forever
Never gonna be what I should
And you think that I'll be bad for just a little while
(Think that I'll be bad for just a little while)
And you think that I'll be bad for just a little while
But I know that I'll be bad for good

Your eyes are darker than sin
And I've been watching them glow
Take a chance on a promise and a roll of the dice
Put your foot on the gas let it go, let it go, let it go

You've been living your life like a girl in a cage
And you whisper when I want you to shout (whisper when I want you to shout)
And I'll never know why you wanna go on sleeping
When there's nothing left to dream about
But you'd better remember

If it's something I want then it's something I need
I wasn't built for comfort I was build for speed
If it's something I want giving something I need
I wasn't built for comfort I was build for speed

And I know that I'm gonna be like this forever
Never gonna be what I should
And you think that I'll be bad for just a little while
(Think that I'll be bad for just a little while)
And you think that I'll be bad for just a little while
But I know that I'll be bad for good
I know that I'll be bad for good
Not for just a little while
I know that I'll be bad for good
I know that I'll be bad for good

Bad for good
Bad for good
Bad for good

For the good of some thrills on a long frigid night
For the good of the fire in your soul
For the good of the kiss, let me hold you so tight
For the good of getting out of control
For the good of the action and a race in the dark
For the good of those chills up your spine
For the good of the rock and the roll in your heart
For the good of what's yours and what's mine
For the good of believing in a life after birth
For the good of your body so bright
For the good of the search for some heaven on earth
For the good of one hell of a night
For the good of one hell of a night

For the good of the action and a race in the dark
For the good of the fire in your soul
For the good of the hunger that eats at your heart
For the good of getting out of control
For the good of believing in a life after birth
For the good of your body so bright
For the good of the search for some heaven on earth
For the good of one hell of a night
For the good of one hell of a night

The sea is whipping the sky
The sky is whipping the sea
You can hide away forever from the storm
But you'll never hide away from me

The icy cold will cut us like a knife in the dark
And we may lose everything in the wind (lose everything in the wind)
But the northern lights are burning
And they're giving off sparks (sparks)
I want to wrap myself around you like a winter skin

I know that you can be bad at least a little while
But if you give me a chance, give me one little chance
And give me all the love that you should

Then instead of being bad for just a little while
(Instead of being bad for just a little while)
Then instead of being bad for just a little while
(Instead of being bad for just a little while)
Then instead of being bad for just a little while
I'm gonna make you bad for good

Not for just a little while
I'm gonna make you bad for good
Not for just a little while
I'm gonna make you bad for good
I know that you'll be bad for good
You'll be bad for good

Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Diana Ross, 2006. Length 3:14. Brian plays guitar and bass
This version is a complete re-working of the track, and Brian's solo is very different to the original.
This track was originally recorded by Queen for '
The Game'
On ITunes, there are two versions listed; the normal version and 'Brian May Version', but they are identical.
Lyrics:
This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love
It cries in a cradle all night
It swings, it jives
It shakes all over like a jelly fish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
He knows how to rock 'n' roll
He drives me crazy
He gives me hot and cold fever
And he leaves me in a cool, cool sweat

I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
Get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitch hike
Take a long ride on my motorbike
'Til I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

Ooh

I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
Get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitch hike
Take a long ride on a motorbike
'Til I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
He knows how to rock 'n' roll
He drives me crazy
He gives me hot and cold fever
And he leaves me in a cool, cool sweat

This thing called love I just can't handle it
This thing called love I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love
Crazy
Crazy little thing called love

Crazy little thing called love
Ooh
It's crazy, hey, hey
Ha, ha, ooh
Crazy little thing called love
I ain't ready
Oooh

Let's get ready to rock

Move It

This track was previously performed live by Brian and Cliff at the 2002
Party At The Palace.

Lyrics:
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Come on pretty baby, move it, groove it
Shake baby shake, please don't lose it
This rhythm that gets into your heart and soul
Well let me tell you people it's called rock and roll

They say it's gonna die but honey please lets face it
Well they just don't know what's a going to replace it
Well ballads and calypso's have got nothing on
Real rock 'n' roll that just drives along
Honey, move it
Come on, move it
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

Move it, move it, move it, yeah
Move it, move it, move it, come on
Move it, move it, move it, ah, move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, groove it

Come on pretty baby, let's move it, groove it
Shake baby shake, please don't lose it
It's all over town there's a brand new beat
And it's a hanging in the air like a Mississippi heat

There are fireflies in the night, bull frogs croakin'
Here comes the train and boy is she smokin'
Headed out from New Orleans and clear to L.A
You better get ready it's a brand new day
Move it, yeah, yeah, move it, move it, move it

Move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, groove it
Move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, groove it
Move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, move it
I'm gonna move it, move it, move it
Shake it, move it, move it, make it
(Move it, move it, move it) never fake it
Move it, move it, move it
Move it, move it, move it

We Belong
Lynn Carey Saylor, 2007. Length 4:28
Brian plays guitar and sings backing (and some lead) vocals. Danny Miranda and Spike Edney also appear on the track.
This track was originally recored by Pat Benatar and reached #22 in 1985.
This track is available on the 2007 album 'You Like It Clean', which also features Brian on '
If We Believe'.
Lyrics:
(Brian sings lead vocals for the lyrics in red, but sings joint-vocals throughout most of the song)
Many times I've tried to tell you
Many times I've cried alone
Always I'm surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone

Don't want to leave you really
I've invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind

We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong,
we belong, we belong, we belong, together

Maybe it's a sign of weakness
When I don't know what to say
Maybe I just wouldn't know
What to do with my strength anyway

Have we become a habit?
Do we distort the facts?
Now there's no looking forward
Now there's no turning back

When you say
We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong,
we belong, we belong, we belong, together

Close your eyes and try to sleep now
Close your eyes and try to dream
Clear your mind and do your best to
Try and wash the pallete clean

We can't begin to know it
How much we really care
I hear your voice inside me
I see your face everywhere

So you say
We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong,
we belong, we belong, we belong, together

We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong,
we belong, we belong, we belong, together

We belong, we belong, we belong
We belong, we belong, we belong, we belong
We belong, we belong, we belong, we belong
We belong, we belong, we belong

Tanto Amor No Es Bueno

This track is a Spanish re-working of 'Too Much Love Will Kill You', originally recorded by Brian on '
Back To The Light'. Brian performs a brand new guitar solo for the track.

Many thanks to Nacho (Momo's manager) for the lyrics.
Lyrics:
Tan sólo soy una mitad de lo que fui.
Amargas lágrimas hoy caen sobre mí.
Muy lejos de mi hogar,
he estado solo demasiado tiempo ya.
No existe sensatez aquí

Defying Gravity
Kerry Ellis, 2008. Length 4:03
Brian plays guitar, bass and keyboards, he also arranged and produced the track.
Includes Taylor Hawkins on drums as well as the London Session orchestra.
The track orginates from the musical 'Wicked', which Kerry appeared in after 'We Will Rock You'.
This track, with '
I'm Not That Girl' and 'No One But You', was released as a teaser for her forthcoming album. The track segues into 'I'm Not That Girl'
Lyrics:
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes, and leap

It's time to try defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity
And you won't bring me down
Mmm

I'm through accepting limits
'Cos someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love it comes at much too high a cost

I'd sooner buy defying gravity
I'm way up high, I'm defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity
And you won't bring me down

Unlimited
My future is unlimited
And I just had a vision almost like a prophecy
I know it sounds to be crazy
And true, the vision's hazy
But I can see it, I can feel it
I swear I'll be so high
Yeah, yeah

So, if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately
Everyone deserves a chance to fly

And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me
Yeah, yeah

It's time to try defying gravity
I'm way up high, I'm defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity
And you won't bring me
You won't bring me
Down

Ohhhh, ohhh

Lyrics:
Hands touch, eyes meet
Sudden silence, sudden heat
Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
He could be that boy
But I'm not that girl
I'm not that girl

Blithe smile, lithe limb
She who's winsome, she wins him
Gold hair with a gentle curl
That's the girl he chose
And heaven knows
I'm not that girl

Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
Don't remember that rush of joy
He could be that boy
I'm not that girl

Every so often we long to steal
To the land of what might have been
But that doesn't soften the ache we feel
When reality sets back in

Don't wish, don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl
There's a girl I know
He loves her so
I'm not that girl

I'm not that girl
Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
(I'm not that girl)
I won't wish, and I won't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
(I'm not that girl)

I won't dream, but I'm gonna pray
That maybe someday
I'll be that girl
