Barcelona - The Rock Opera
[shop]
The rock opera 'Barcelona' was an authentic
reproduction of the Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe album
'Barcelona'. The whole album
was performed live (including the closing track 'Overture
Piccante'), with a full orchestra. The project was supported by
Brian May.
The original line up paired Sicilian Salvo Bruno with Dutch
soprano Karin Ten Cate, with piano and arrangement by Mario
Previti, and in addition, the Mario Singers and the Ukrainian
State Orchestra, conducted by Taras Krysa.
In 2006, a new line up paired Dutch tenor Robin Van Beek with
Karin Ten Cate, with piano by Lida Kantcheva and again featuring
the Ukrainian State Orchestra, with arrangement by conductor
Martin Panteleev.

The Netherlands, in February 2005, was released on CD in The
Netherlands in August/September 2005. The CD features the eight
tracks from the original album, plus a new composition called
'Vivere: Mario Previti'.
A second performance, recorded at the Schouwburg Eindhoven, The
Netherlands, on 24 October 2005, was also released on DVD in The
Netherlands on 12 May 2006. This DVD again features the eight
tracks from the album, plus additional bonus performances of 'Who
