Hey
Oh

Hey
Don't judge me Mama
Don't tell me that I've done wrong
It's a hard business
It's a hard business
To make it on your own

Don't judge me Papa
If I can't handle the things in my head
'Cos it's a hard business
Such a hard business
Walking on the edge

I've got nothing and no-one in my life
So how can I lose again
Got my feet in muddy water
But I'm gonna find that road again
So I'll be taking care of business
'Cos I know what I'm looking for
Ooh, I've been working every hour God gives to man
But I still see the same closed door, yeah
Yeah
Ow

I've got nothing but trouble in my life
But I feel I've got a lot to give
Everyday I try to build a new world
But I've had no-one to build it with
Oh, I've been looking for a woman to share my hopes
And I know I ain't a patch on you
And I've been thinking that a woman's God's gift to man
Are you thinking the same way too?
Yeah

So don't leave me Mama
Don't make me go on alone
'Cos its a hard business
Yes it's a hard business
Oooh, oh, oh, ooh

Don't leave me Papa
When my belief in myself is gone
'Cos it's a hard business
Such a hard business, oooh, ooh
Tell me it's a hard business
Being on my own
Yeah

There's a little lady living down in old Beijing, hey
She got everything you need well you know what I mean
No it ain't what you're thinking she ain't love for sale, no, no
She'll get you jumping just for fun but there's a sting in her tale, yeah
She's a lover she's a fighter she's a red hot bit
You take her as you find her but you never can quit
She's a pretty little lady called China Belle
She's a little bit of heaven and a whole lotta hell

Oh, she gotta bad reputation but you won't say no
You gonna need her sweet loving when you go, go, go
She got a diamond on her finger you can see it glisten
She got plenty conversation, don't talk just listen
She could be flat bed faking but you never can tell
Got the body of an angel but you know darn well
She's a pretty little lady called China Belle
She's a little bit of heaven and a whole lotta hell

Hey, let me tell ya'

I was standing at the station on the neck of Siam
I met a man from Abu Dhabi said 'you know who I am'
They call me hard nosed Harry who could never get hooked
But I fell in love with trouble after just one look
She'll give you dirty loving honey make you feel real swell
But if you say you wanna stay she ain't that kinda girl
I said you're talking 'bout a lady that I know darn well
She's a little bit of heaven and a whole lotta hell

She'll take you Nee-How walking to a Chinese Ball
You'll be singing and a dancing underneath the Great Wall
But when you're strolling in the rain through Tiananmen Square
You turn around and look for China and she ain't nowhere
Ooh, she's a dangerous habit she's a red hot bit
You could get a better rabbit but you just can't quit
She's a pretty little lady called China Belle
She's a pretty little lady called China Belle
She's a pretty little lady called China Belle
She's a little bit of heaven and a
Whole lotta hell, ow

Take me to China
Take me away
She's a little bit of heaven and a whole lotta hell

After the storm there's the dead of night
It seems there's no way back for me
So little comfort in my lonely bed
To know that it had to be, ooh

And now I miss you in so many ways
You know I miss you for so many lonely days
Ahh-ahh, why don't we try again

In the dark there's a desert flower
It blooms where no-one ever sees
Our love was stronger than history
Our love will never cease to be

How can I live with you as a memory
You hold the best part of me, ooh

And now I miss you in so many ways
You know I miss you for so many lonely days
Ahh-ahh, why don't we try again

(Ooh)
(Ooh, oooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

No use me waiting by the telephone
You're gone, it ain't gonna ring
Oh, oooh

Oh, oooh

And now I miss you in so many ways
You know I miss you
for so many
Lonely, lonely days and nights

I know you miss me
for so many lonely days
Ahh-ahh, why don't we try again

Ahh-ahh, why don't we try again
Ahh-ahh, why don't we try again

Oh
Fight
Hey
Come and play with me, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

I'm waiting

I play their fantasy and
I live their pain
My heart and soul locked up in a cold steel frame
A strange creature's crawling
And it's calling out my name
I don't want to
I don't need to
But I must fight again

Let me out
Set me free

Calling out for the Cyborg
Gonna rub you out
Time is up for the Cyborg
You'll never get out
Bah, you're nothing but a Cyborg, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

Cyborg

Cyborg, it's your time

Oooohh
I'll make it back there baby
Just you watch me try
(One more try, justa one more try)
We'll fly again into the deep blue sky

I feel a hunger baby
Cyborg feels no shame
Lord I have to
Lord I need to
Win this wicked game

Come step to me

Calling out for the Cyborg
Gonna rub you out
Time is up for the Cyborg
You'll never get out
Calling out for the Cyborg
Gonna put your light out
Bah, you're nothing but a Cyborg
You'll never get out

I'm gonna erase your file

He'll tan your hide and give what you never had
They call him the Guv'nor (God bless the Guv'nor)
Ooh, he's trained to kill (God bless the Guv'nor)
Make way, make way for the Guv'nor (make way for the Guv'nor)
Ooh, give yourself a thrill, come on, ooh, ooh

Look at the dude
He got the world, he got it made
Ooh, he got attitude
And he got a fist - like a switchblade

Ooh, and everyone in the city

He'll play them hits electrifying
Tear you to bits, leave you
Crying, crying, crying, yeah

So get ready for the showdown (don't lose your head)
If licks could kill we'd all be long, long dead

God bless the Guv'nor

The Wilderness
Track 8. Written by Brian May. Album Version 4:51
Lyrics:

Born in the time of the changes
Where are you going - how will you fly
Is it for love or freedom
All your days have been
Waiting for life to catch you
Watching and waiting and seeking a sign
In the wilderness

Each of us learns while we're sleeping
Sleeping we know - waking it goes
Fashion a dream of heaven
Hold it close again
Only the Queen of heaven
Watches us grow, hearing us cry
Wondering and searching and loosing our way
In the mire
In the wilderness

Wilderness child
You gotta hold on
Wilderness child
You're gonna find your way home
Wilderness child
You gotta be strong
Wilderness, wilderness, wilderness, wilderness child
Oooooh

Wilderness child
Let me see you
Stand in the light
Make me whole again

And if you can then show me
Approach me if you dare
Love is an open secret
Healing and hiding and wondering and weeping
Waiting for someone to find
And open the door

In the wilderness
In the wilderness
In the wilderness
In the wilderness
Oooh, oooh, oooh
Oooh, oooh, oooh
Ooh, oooh

Gold and rose, the colour of a dream I had
Not too long ago
Misty blue and lilac too
Never to grow old

There you were under the tree of song
Sleeping so peacefully
In your hand a flower played
Waiting there for me

I had never, ha, ha, laid eyes on you
Not before this timeless day
But you woke and you, wow, smiled my name
You stole my heart away
You stole my heart away little girl, yeah

Alright, yeah, wow
Go Jimi
Sweet eyed dreams
Wow
Yeah

Gold and rose, the colour of a dream I had
Not too long ago
Misty blue and lilac too
Never to grow old

Gold and rose, the colour of a dream I had
Misty blue and lilac too
Gold and rose, the colour of a dream I had
Misty blue and lilac too
Gold and rose
Gold and rose
Gold and rose
It's only a dream

I'd love to tell somebody about this dream
The sky was filled with a thousand stars
While the sun kissed the mountains blue
And eleven moons played across the rainbows
Above me and you

Ooh, oooh
Gold and rose
Gold and rose
Colour of a velvet wall
That surrounds us

Lyrics: (lyrics in red are spoken by Ian Hunter)
Good evening Memphis
How are we doing
Let's do it
Good

Forgot my six string razor
And I hit the sky
Half way to Memphis
'Fore I realised
Hey

I rang the information
My axe was cold
They said she rides a train
Down to Oriole

Well it's a mighty long way down the dusty trail
And the sun burns hot on the cold steel rail
And I look like a bum and I crawl like a snail
All the way from Memphis

I got to Oriole, you know
It took a month
And there was my guitar
Electric junk

Some dude says rock 'n' rollers
You're all the same
Man that's your instrument
I felt so ashamed

Now it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
Through the Bradford Cities and the Oriole
And you look like a star but you're still on the dole
All the way from Memphis, wow
Hey
All the way from Memphis

Oooh, gonna ride that train
Wooh-hoo, wooh-wooh, wooh-wooh
Wooh-wooh, wooh-wooh, wooh-wooh
Hey, hey, hey, hey

Of course, we weren't always superstars
There was a time when we were just ordinary commoners, just like you
Thank you Mr Hoople
And we used to eat

Well it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll, let's hear it
From the Liverpool Docks to the Hollywood Bowl
And you climb up the mountains and you fall down the holes
All the way from Memphis

Well it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
And your name gets hot and your heart grows old
And you gotta stay a young man, you can never get old
All the way from Memphis

Well it's a mighty long way down rock 'n' roll
From the Bradford Cities and the Oriole
And you look like a star but you're still on parole

All the way from Memphis (yeah, that's where I come from)
Wow, all the way from Memphis
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
All the way from Memphis (all the way from Memphis)
Hey, hey
Wow
OK

Yeah
Thank you and good night

Lyrics:

In another world
Under another sky
I see another story waiting
To be told

And another you
Wakes up - with another me
For that's the way we've come to be
In another world

In a different place
Way cross time and space
The door is open wide
Drawn to a different light
Maybe we'll step inside

In another world
We can show we care
You can be sure I'm waiting there
In another world

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oooh, yeah
When the dice were cast
They laid a crazy path
We follow to our graves

But I know in a different world
We journey a different way

So we live but life
Isn't what it seems
We're only living in our dreams
In another world

You can believe
I'll meet you here
In another world

Brian Talks
Non Album Track. Original version 1:13
This is a track where Brian talks about the death of Cozy Powell, with some acoustic guitar.
Only available on 'The Business' CD, but is also featured in the 'Enhanced Multimedia Section'.

Words:
Hi folks, this is Brian
It's April 1998 and this is the last thing I thought I would ever be doing
Sitting here paying tribute to a Cozy who is no longer with us, it just does not seem possible
I'm sitting on the spot where he so often hammered out incredible drum parts for us
With great enthusiasm and power and optimism and humour
It's impossible to describe what a terrible gap it's going to leave in our lives, our mate Cozy not being here
He was a fantastic support, a fantastic energy and vibe
He had the most incredible attitude to life which leaked over into everything he did
I think for the whole world it was much too soon, he was a wonderful, great drummer
One of the people who defined a whole style which became part of the mainstream of rock 'n' roll
And Cozy, if you're listening, you were the best, and we all know it
And God rest you mate - we love you

Enhanced Multimedia Section
A CD-Rom only track, with Brian paying tribute to Cozy Powell. Length 4:20.
This track contains the first 3:06 of the album version of '
The Business', with footage of Brian and Cozy from 'Live At The Brixton Academy', edited to fit the music. At several points within the track, the music is quieter and features footage of Brian in the studio, talking about Cozy (different to 'Brian Talks'). After this, it features 'Brian Talks', with footage of Cozy, again from 'Live At The Brixton Academy'.
This track is only available on 'The Business' CD.
Lyrics and Dialogue:
Hey
Oh

Hey
Don't judge me Mama
Don't tell me that I've done wrong
(Brian: Business started off as a, a the theme for a TV series)
It's a hard business
(Brian: And all they wanted was little bits, so I did little bits first, but there was a complete song in my head)
It's a hard business
(Brian: So, eventually we put it all together, and Cozy was a big part of that)
To make it on your own

Don't judge me Papa
If I can't handle the things in my head
'Cos it's a hard business
(Brian: Cozy would come in at a certain point, after I had programmed it and sorted it all out, you know, bits of arrangement)
Such a hard business
(Brian: Cozy would come in and say 'ah, yeah, yeah, I see what you mean', and he would do his thing)
Walking on the edge
(Brian: and then suddenly the thing would start to come to life, because that's a, there's a, there's a human thing. You can program until you're blue in the face, you know, but you never get that sort of thing that comes from real people interacting)

I've got nothing and no-one in my life
So how can I lose again
Got my feet in muddy water
But I'm gonna find that road again

So I'll be taking care of business
(Brian: Cozy would always be a great energy source, and I'm gonna miss him terribly)
'Cos I know what I'm looking for
(Brian: terribly, you know. He was a big part of)
Ooh, I've been working every hour God gives to man
(Brian: most of the tracks on this album)
But I still see the same closed door, yeah
Yeah
Ow

Brian: It's something which stirs your guts in, in a particular way, and you know, to see Cozy hit those things, you felt something, you know, it wasn't just hitting things in time, it was like everything had a certain menace to it, you know, um, and a certain joy, you know, Cozy was very up, very funny.

Hi folks, this is Brian
It's April 1998 and this is the last thing I thought I would ever be doing
Sitting here paying tribute to a Cozy who is no longer with us, it just does not seem possible
I'm sitting on the spot where he so often hammered out incredible drum parts for us

Hey, pussycat
What's going down?

Whatever happened to a Saturday night
When you dressed up sharp and you felt alright
It don't seem the same since cosmic light
Came into my life
I thought I was divine, wow-wow

I used to go for a ride with a chick who'd go
And listen to the music on the radio
A saxophone was blowing on a Rock and Roll show
We climbed in the back seat
And, wow, really had a good time

Hot Patootie - bless my soul
I really love that rock 'n' roll, hit me
Hot Patootie - bless my soul
I really love that rock 'n' roll
Hey

My head was swimming from the perfume I smelt
My hands kinda fumbled with her white plastic belt
I'd taste her baby pink lipstick
And that's when I'd melt
She'd whisper in my ear
Tonight she really was mine

Get back in the front and put some hair oil on (oooh, oooh)
Buddy Holly was singing his very last song (oooh, oooh)
With your arms around your girl you tried to sing along (bop, shoo, wop, bop, shoo, wop)
You felt pretty good 'cos you'd (bop, shoo, wop)
Really had a good time (oohhhh)

Hot Patootie - bless my soul, yeah, yeah

Ooooh
People see us everywhere (oooh)
They think you really care (oooh)
But myself I can't deceive (ooh-ooh)
I know it's only make believe

(Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, wah-ah, oooh)

My one and only prayer
Is that someday you'll care
My hopes, my dreams come true
My one and only you
No-one will ever know (oooh)
How much I love you so (oooh)

My only prayer will be (ahhh)
Someday you'll care for me (ahhh)
But it's only make believe (oooh, make believe)

My hopes, my dreams come true
My life, I'd give for you
My heart a wedding ring
My all, my everything
My heart, I can't control
You rule my very soul
My only prayer will be
Someday you'll care for me
But its only make believe

My one and only prayer (wah-oooh)
Is that someday you'll care
My hopes my dreams come true (ooooh, wah-oooh)
My one and only you
No-one will ever know
How much I love you so

(Ahhhh) My prayers, my hopes, my schemes
(Ahhhh) You are my every dream
But it's only make believe (make believe)
